Fall River Electric Reconsideration in Progress

Despite community backlash and our decision-makers handing them a denial, Fall River Electric is in the process of asking Teton County's Board of Commissioners to reconsider their decision for the construction of a midway substation. This denial was due given the inappropriate location of the proposed substation. Throughout the application process, VARD and other community members voiced concerns over potential health hazards and quality of life impacts created by having an electric substation in a residential area.

In a recent email to its membership, Fall River asked its members to write letters in support of the midway substation. However, their email failed to mention that the project had been rejected as both the community and Commissioners found that it was not in our Valley's best interest. While electricity is an essential service, sacrificing the wellbeing of community members when other locations are available for this project is not responsible.

We are currently tracking this application and await any official public hearing notice.
